Inspiring Our Future Ocean Guardians

Following our amazing fundraising campaign last year, raising money to Save The London shipwreck, in 2024 we took part in the incredible opportunity presented by the BigGive Christmas Challenge. The December Challenge week resulted in lots of wonderful donations raising an amazing £7,203.

Working with our partners, MSDS Marine & Heritage and supported by Andark Diving & Watersports and Dream Divers the DiverCity Programme is hosting free pop-up events in the north and south of England during the school summer holidays in 2025. The events will inspire young people (minimum age 10) to become the future ocean guardians that can care for both the natural and heritage marine environment through free SCUBA try-dives and fun hands on experiences.

During July (in Rotherham) and August (in Southampton) 2025 our pop-up events will reach hundreds of people, exciting them about the beauty and wonder of the ocean, including it being the largest museum in the world. It is expected that over 200 young people will be able to experience the underwater world for the first time through a SCUBA try-dive and that they will be inspired to care for both the natural and cultural assets that exist underwater.

DiverCity kicked off on the 19th-20th July 2025 in Rotherham, coinciding with the CBA Festival of Archaeology and supporting the aims of Rotherham’s Children’s Capital of Culture. The DiverCity events in Southampton will take place on the 2nd-3rd August 2025.

Sunday 20th July (12:00-16:00) at Maltby Leisure Centre

Saturday 2nd August (13:00-17:00) at Shirley Pool

Sunday 3rd August (13:00-17:00) at Bitterne Leisure Centre
